Hiking for Jesus by Preston Fields offers readers intimate
reflections of the author’s journey growing up Catholic
in the Appalachian Bible Belt. From a young boy, unsure
of the world and his place in it, to a young man who finds
his true calling and the simple truth of God’s profound
wisdom, Fields takes readers on a journey where we discover
that God does not speak to us from mountain tops or burning
bushes, but rather through fireflies and human laughter.
It is in the world and our human experience that His word
can be found. In friendship, community, and self-discovery
we learn that faith is a journey and that it is okay not
to have all the answers. Told in lyrical and masterful
prose and written with an eye for young adults and teens,
Hiking for Jesus is a rare book on faith that transcends
biblical sound bites, creating a narrative that is both
personal and spiritually relevant. This is a must-read
for everyone in search of their place in the world.
